Facebook, shaping our lives!

Image

Facebook has proved itself to be one of best Psychologist. It not only helps you analyze people in our friend lists, but provide detailed account of someone’s life. All of what we like, what we share, what we speak depicts our mentality and our lifestyles. And I am sure, we don’t want everyone to know everything about us. That is the reason there are some things that are private and some public.

FB has enabled people to come and create a virtual personality, which indeed is a reflection of their actual personality. A virtual world that they want other people to see of them, showing that they are very happy all the time (or very sad in some casese), enjoying (or hating) the life. All those things that YOU want others to know.

Once our private life was considered private, FB has facilitated people to show their private pictures, memories, likes, dislikes, places you visit, resturant you dine in, friends you have, hobbies you have, to be shared with all those who are interested and all those who are not. Once you upload anything on FB, it has indeed been made public by yourself and you cannot expect people to not judge you because of that. Everything you do, everything you don’t, does leave an impact on people, so choose wisely. In the real world, we think atleast 10 times before speaking, but in the virtual world we just “share”!

To my experience, FB is the most extensively used, attention seeking tool in this world. You had an icecreamwho cares? You visit that new cafe in town! Who wants to know that? You are listening to some song! Listen, we are not interested. You are sad and alone? Go and sit with your family, you won’t be anymore insha’AllahWallahi, such posts are pretty annoying and I think intelligent people don’t behave like that. Intelligent people should widden their center of influence by working on people around them instead of sharing useless (not all), fake (not all) and annoying things  (not all) on FB, wasting time, making fool of yourself.

Anyhow, there are always good and bad aspects of everything. We should focus on the good but shouldn’t entirely ignore the bad ones. FB is an extremely powerful tool. Don’t let it shape your lives! Choose wisely!

The angels are recording!

The angles are recording!

Make your facebook, twitter, instagram and all other social media an evidence FOR you, not against you, on the Day of Judgement! Even when “write” online or “post” a pic, it is still being recorded by the angels and we shall be held accountable for everything.

“Surely, there are guardians watching over you, noble recorders, who know all that you do” (82:10-12)

Upper hand is better than the lower hand – Ramadhan Food Project 2013

Alhamdulillah, by the Grace of Allah Subhanahuwataalah, Youth Club Lahore took part in three social projects in 2012, namely:

       Ramadhan Food Project

Clothes Distribution in sponsorship of Young Muslimah Project KSA

Dhul Hijjah Qurbani and Food distribution

Ramadhan Food Project
In the early days of Ramadan, the YCL team purchased various food items and commodities including rice, sugar, pulses, dates, tea leaves, etc., from the supermarket ‘Metro’ in Model Town, Lahore, and collected sacks of flour from a charitable lady in Mustafa Town, before setting off for Kasur where the deserving families resided.

The selection of the target homes was made after scrutiny; people who were needy yet did not resort to begging. Their living standards were extremely deplorable. Families had very few supplies to help them last the month. Their houses usually had a single stove in an open-air kitchen, the only place where they could cook food, and only fortunate families had a hand pump to provide them with water.

Alhamdulillah, the supplies were distributed and those families were sustained throughout Ramadan.A total sum of around PKR 200,000 was spent in this project, and by the Grace of the Almighty it was a success, helping bring smiles to the faces of people who had probably not eaten to their fill for a long time.

Clothes Distribution in sponsorship of Young Muslimah Project KSA
In association with The Young Muslimah Project, Youth Club distributed over 500 clothes to people from the areas affected by floods.

8

The team traveled across 1250 kilometers, to Sindh and Balochistan, giving out clothes.

9

Their houses were totally wrecked by the floods, and they had to live under the open sky with hardly any provisions to sustain them.

10

Alhamdulillah these donations were given out to the right people.

Impact Analysis:

Our humble request

This year Youth Club Lahore team has targeted over 75 poor families within Lahore, which includes widows, orphans, unemployed and needy people, etc., that have no source of income at all.

Last year the families that were contacted did not call again to ask for provisions this year. This is the sign of true ‘masakeen’, people who do not resort to seeking help from others. We made sure that we reach “safaid-posh” people.

Help support this cause, keeping these Ahadith well in mind:

The Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam) said: ‘Whoever gives iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the fasting person’s reward in the slightest.’ [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 807, Saheeh]

A man asked the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam), ‘What sort of deeds or (what qualities of) Islam are good?’ The Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam) replied, ‘To feed (the poor) and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know.’ [Sahih al-Bukhari, 12]

Disclaimer: The purpose of sharing these stats and the effort done by our team is not to brag about the achievements of Youth Club. In fact, it is to bring to your notice that it is not politics, votes or leadership, but the individual efforts of all of us that are required to bring the much needed change in our societies. Every tiny little effort counts. If all of us take out just a small portion of our annual savings for those less privileged than us, in shaa’Allah we will lay the foundation for building more stable and healthier societies built on love, trust and compassion.

Something we all dream of seeing, every single day of our lives.

JAZAKUMULLAH KHAIR!

(may Allah grant you all goodness)

Politico-ism-mania!

O my dear principle centered people. Don’t lose your morals, while you discuss politics. Don’t get personal. Especially on facebook, where others are ready to judge you. Be real. Have your opinion and respect other’s opinions. Maintain respect so that you may be able to meet those you know you face to face.

After all what has happened, ask yourself some very basic questions:
-Will you stop lying even on small things?
-Will you stop breaking traffic rules?
-Will you start giving other people’s rights?
-Will you start appreciating merit and quit corruption in your capacity?

If the answer is “yes”, the change will come and “naya pakistan” will be created. But if you practically showed a “no” in your life, then trust me, it doesn’t matter what party is ruling over us.

The real problem is that we don’t change ourselves.
