People, when in difficult situations, are confused and small factors de-motivates them. This is pure human psychology. A problem that persists in our society is that everyone who is more knowledgeable, better position holder, better in grades, wealthier, has better status wants to dominate the other by asking/telling them things that de-motivate them. This happens everywhere; at institutes, workplaces, market places, religious places and everywhere else.
“Hey, do you know this?” “Do you know that?” “No! You don’t do this? You are such a waste”. “If you can’t do that, you can’t do anything.”
Stop for a moment and analyse the situation if you were they and someone comes and tell you the same things. How angry would you be. “I am trying so hard to get it done and this **** and **** and **** is telling me all this. “
In that situation, all they want from you is to motivate them by telling them that whatever you are doing, you are doing great, keep it up.
And if you think there is a room for improvement, look for appropriate time to correct them (in private AND NOT PUBLIC BASHING). Deliver them your advice as a favour and NOT AS A COMMAND. Let them come to the conclusion, dont force them to what exactly you want. And if they don’t accept it, don’t feel offended. After all, its none of your business. They’ll lose the deal and realize it. They won’t lose it the next time (they’ll take your advice then)
They’d love to take your advide and they’d love to follow you.
So, key things:
1. Dont bash
3. Advice mildly
and be their Leader.
