Lets dig a hole

Once upon a time, some people boarded a ship…rather…a cruise and started their journey to a far far away. The ship had two floors. The upper floor was for the elite class, the intellectual class and business men. It had all the great restaurants, cinemas, cafes, clean and clear swimming pools and everything else for their enjoyment. Their bedrooms were cosy while their sitting rooms were comfortable. They were contended for what they had with them in their journey and were contended to have spent a good amount of money for that.

“Worth a shot” they proclaimed.

It was their dream come true…travelling in a cruise to their favourite place and all they can do was to enjoy every single bit of it.

The ground floor of the ship were for the workers, people who couldnt afford the luxuries and for those who couldn’t reason the reason of spending great amount of money for just a trip. They wanted to enjoy too but they held their joy till they reached their destination, far far away.

The ground floor didn’t had any special thing for enjoyment but after all they were human beings too and every human being wants to enjoy. They were so bored of their trip. So, all of them decided something. Every night, people from the ground floor climbed the upper floor to enjoy swimming in the pool. They made noise while playing, didn’t conform to the norms of the elite class and disturbed the harmonious environment of the upper floor of the cruise. The people of the upper floor were very disturbed of their activities and hence a ban was put on them. Sadly, people from the ground floor couldn’t come up for enjoyment any more. There only little joy was completely over.

One of them from the ground floor came up with an idea. “Why don’t we dig a hole in the ship and make our own swimming pool?” he asked everyone. “We have THE HUGE supply of water just under our feet and we can enjoy all” he said. Everyone screamed out of joy and a team started working on the project.

The news reached the management which stayed on the upper floor. “Great fools they are. They’ll not only drown themselves but drown us too” the manager said. Everyone agreed with the manager. Now they had three choices:

1. Let them dig a hole. It would be a matter of time before the whole cruise would sink.

2. Stop them from digging a hole in the ship and lift the ban. They’ll not only save them but save their own-selves. They’ll have to allow the people to come and enjoy in the swimming pool on the upper floor and the elite have to live with all that they don’t like.

3. They stop them from digging the hole and do not lift the ban. This would create an aggression in the people and they would start protesting for their right of enjoyment.

Hence their survival demanded choice no. 2.

Moral: Sometimes one has to stop others from something bad, not just for the good of those people but, for their own survival, whether you like it…..or not.

  1. And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful.
    [Al-Quran 3: 104]
